Willow Structure
This 1000 tree installation was designed with the goal to be the largest living structure in the United States. Beyond the eye-catching, impressive nature of the structure, it will also serve as a GI installation, sequestering and managing a large amount of stormwater. Willows will grow quickly, generate massive amounts of biomass, and are hyperaccumulators of heavy metals such as lead. As these trees are grafted together, they will essentially become 1 large tree structure that shares an extensive root system. Biomass shed will help generate soil carbon sequestration rapidly. This natural superstructure will also provide a unique community gathering place with national landmark potential.
